Maasai – The Maasai are a tribe of people who live in Kenya and Tanzania. One of our members was lucky enough to have met and to have become friends with the Chief of an area of 5000 Maasai people.
Over time, the Chief and other Maasai have come to visit us, and we have sent many people, Rotarians, Students, Relatives, and Friends, to visit them in Kenya. We have also raised funds that have been used to build a school (named after Castle Rock – Castle Rock DayCare Center), built a well, provided feeding programs through drought and provided books, computers and other school and medical supplies. Through a Rotary connection, a grant is in process to diversify our Maasai friends diet and revenue stream through a chicken farm which should begin later in 2024.
